NIGHT ENVIRONMENT
In the presence of DAVID Bouttin, director
Stephanie Lopez, script and music

and stakeholders Film
In partnership with the Library Sub-Clause

Director: David Bouttin Screenplay: David & Stéphane Lopez Bouttin Music: Stéphane Lopez

In southern France, in Provence, surrounded by olive trees and singing cicadas, the Fos-sur-Mer et de l'Etang de Berre is considered one of the largest industrial area in Europe. Between parks and natural sites Seveso, between Mediterranean sea and pollution, this territory has fashioned a dual identity.
Yet, this paradox not singular, it is simply a reflection of our world and our humanity. "Man lives naturally and technologically Nature Technology" highlights the philosopher Michel Puech. And this area is a perfect example.
Because, we push beyond this territory we questioned our ability to choose between saving the planet and our daily comfort.
Watching these people live in the heart of this paradox, and rather than criticize them, ignore them or complain, we can only wonder if we can all now live in the midst of this technique ? Men have never lived so comfortably and yet they have a bad conscience toward technology that gives them that comfort. He rejects and denies.
By focusing on this area if paradoxical, state geographical locations and historical analysis through economic, social and health, this film reminds us of our evolution on the planet.
Would you be willing to abandon your car, your heating, your medications, your fridge, to save the planet?
If you had to choose between comfort and survival of man on Earth, what would your decision?

"second nature" is an amazing documentary on the Etang de Berre and its inhabitants. Bouttin David has chosen to address the paradox that there is to live on the banks of the Etang de Berre and along the Gulf of Fos. -Industrialized region borders on a good life for centuries. This contrast, these are the chimneys Lavera, one of the only manufacturers to have enabled the production to shoot in front of the tavern Dora Manticello. These are also the shores of idyllic scenery Pond flirting with the Total pipeline or a paradise beach with views of a power plant.

Two years of planning and work, 35 hours of movies, dozens of interviews and a documentary ... breathtaking. To achieve this 100% Martigues, David Bouttin, director for France 3 and Stéphane Lopez, musician and creator of Kanjar'Oc have not done in the facility. Our two martégale have addressed the difficult paradox it is to live on the banks of the Etang de Berre and along the Gulf of Fos. A film "with heart" more than a camera with these two children of Martigues.

"What we wanted is to speak of this region as a different, says David Bouttin. So we chose this paradox, these amazing images of a region divided between his industry and good life. "The contrast, it is these chimneys Ineos Lavera, one of the only manufacturers to have dared to open its doors seamlessly with David and Stephen opposite the tavern Dora Manticello. These are also the banks of the Etang de Berre in idyllic scenery flirting with pipelines or Total Ponteau this beach paradise, with views of the chimneys EDF.

Or that mirror the birds suddenly disfigured by the passage of an oil tanker. These stunning images offered by the team who made this documentary, are intended "to show that humanity faces to both nature and technology," says David Bouttin. The latter, however, cautions us: "If we are to save the planet, it will have to think otherwise. The technologist is an integral part of man and the Fos-Etang de Berre is a formidable laboratory test. Nature is beautiful but the industry is overrepresented. As such, each player brings a testimony to the high value-added reporting with opinions converge: the industry is essential as is nature.

Michael Powell, Emeric Pressburger
USA, 1949 Restored version 2010, 2:13
Starring: Anton Walbrook, Moira Shearer, Marius Goring

One of the greatest films of British cinema, The Red Shoes by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger, spring day in a beautiful restored print numerically. The opportunity to return to the gestation of this masterpiece and speak a bit of window-dressing which has been saving the object.

say that The Red Shoes has marked the history of cinema is an understatement. Paralyzed by its budget overruns, extremism and dark romantic speech (a great artist is consumed by his art) and by the mad experiments of its shape, investors in the film by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger, considering that this show was hopelessly for a public failure, did everything to sabotage his release in English in September 1948. Without opening night, without displays or advertising to support it, the film was programmed in a single room in London, which is more in evening sessions. It is the tremendous success of the film in the U.S. which will result in reconsideration and its release in cinemas around the world, ensuring the film a shot at posterity never wavered. So it is no coincidence that these are American filmmakers of the caliber of Martin Scorsese, Brian De Palma, Steven Spielberg and Francis Ford Coppola who have contributed significantly to the posterity. All traumatized in their youth by the splendor of poisonous masterpiece of Powell and Pressburger, they are transformed into authentic VRP Film. The director of Casino no hesitation in declaring it to him "the most beautiful film in Technicolor" while De Palma, who admits he was inspired by the scene where Lermontov attended the show from his box to the stage of the hearing in his Phantom of the Paradise, said: "The Red Shoes is the perfect movie for me, I can rewrite it frame by frame in my head and it is rather rare. It works well, it's very innovative, very moving. This is the greatest movie I've ever known in artistic creation. Therefore it has affected us to this point, the ballet is a metaphor for all works Art. "

17 minutes on another planet
In addition to the authors / directors and, lest we forget, the great cinematographer Jack Cardiff, who has contributed significantly to the visual magnificence of the film, there is a fourth man who emerged as a major contributor to the success of The Red Shoes: Hein Hekcroth. This German costume designer, already at work on two other films of the tandem Powell / Pressburger, A Matter of Life and Death and The Black Narcissus, in addition to creating the costumes for the film, was also replaced at the last moment the decorator Alfred Junge. Duplication but oh so justified on the screen, especially during the sequence of the legendary ballet, visual tour de force for which 17 minutes Heckroth, making more as artistic director as a decorator, had to adapt the original story of Andersen that inspired the film and give a life painting, including conducting more than 120 paintings preparatory (he was a painter of training) and an animated storyboard (a sort of ancestor of animatics) the whole scene, which will be of great help to the chief operator.

Fleeing like the plague any notion of theater filmed, this long and beautiful sequence, which alone will require six weeks of filming, film uses every artifice at its disposal: special visual effects used to embed the figures in dreamlike landscapes (the orchestra is transformed into a raging ocean) or to change their size, mounting allows for background changes the fastest and the stop-motion gives the famous slippers as their own life. In short, defying logic and the theater, the scene of the ballet shifts the film into a kind of intense and immersive fantasy poetry, innervate which subsequently the rest of the film. It took at least to prove that the viewer how the artist showed that he had loved having access to a unique world and almost supernatural. A world that was as good that he sacrifices everything else.
This digital restoration can now rediscover the masterpiece of Powell and Pressburger in all its original beauty.
