First Death Anniversary Note

Until we meet again! What

is a bit of a habit for blogs to review perfume, at the end of the year ...
Well, for me and Jicky, the balance will be simple, as we entered the vast world of perfume a few months imprisonment.
all started on Auparfum (s it I ramble, my god!) Where Joan and the usual suspects (Who will recognize themselves) we have all learned a bit what ("we were created, so they can destroy us, O?"). Collaboration with Jicky began to take shape during the summer and that's how the blog is born! We wanted to bring our points of view "all costs" on the perfume present and speak with a tone a little less seriously than most blogs .... It's not very useful, but it feels good! So this blog is sort of parasite from its "parents" that are Auparfum, Olfactorum , Grain de Musc etc. ... We thank them and we also thank all the readers who help make the blogosphere scented a friendly place and rewarding!

But enough sentimentality! Classification talking now.
And the winner is ....

To Phoebus: So So So ... One of the big favorites of the year is clearly Ninfeo Mio! Because it is spontaneous, happy, sticky, sweet, smiling, and we warmed up in early spring 2010 ... Then, Guerlain, Tonka Imperial (ouioui, this fragrance we would want to tap dance in the streets to earn enough to afford it!) It needs no introduction ! Otherwise, from Serge Lutens, Silk Stockings, the "iris silver mist" portable, mid-mid-hyacinth iris, cold, uncompromising, sewing, and deliciously retro ... He accompanies me since the fall! And finally ... Why not mainstream? A Scent by Issey Miyake, the bottle Rose, simply because it is the little sister of the green bottle, flower power version =)! That, hopefully more surprises in 2011 ... Jicky you to the studios!

Well I too wish you a super great year by thanking you all you bloggers ( Pepper Blue , Sophie, Anne , Sistine etc. not to mention the same), you readers (I do not want to mention because there are many!) For we have all learned! And know that if later I managed to arrive in the professional community of perfumes, it will be great (no, huge!) Part thanks to you!

me my little top 10 ...

I think the best way out is Midnight In Paris Van Cleef & Arpels (I'm pretty laid on Auparfum). Em mainstream, I will not do in the surprise of the century if not, I want to applaud A Scent Bottle Green too. I'll stop here to Mainstream yes I know I will not put Guerlain (Oh !!!), because they are not discovered. Finally, I would cite the well Mugler Cologne, which I tend to go back (whatever the genre, I also like the perfumer Guerlain Cologne).

Otherwise in the niches, I fell madly in Like This, of Orange Free State, I also Ninfeo million (which will be my future fragrance of summer!).
Otherwise, I'm in love before Promise PrimeTime and PrimeTime Spirited Cartier! In
Lutens, I'm addicted to the Iris Silver Mist , failing to fully appreciate Silk Stockings (Damn hyacinth).
Finally, I finish with my favorite brand of the century, Editions de Parfums Frederic Malle! Citing First A Rose, which touched me deeply and which I refuse to give (and I would not give).
And finally, the centerpiece of my favorite perfume. This sparkling gem that is In Your Arms, Mauritius Roucel, my absolute perfume, I can not describe, just as Jicky ...

Happy New Year to you! And

smell Cheers!

The Movie of the Month

from January 12 to 23

The Quattro volte

Michelangelo Frammartino

A great work of cinema, visible to all ages all public and making rub the wonder, laughter and mystery ...
experience and a delight.

"Is that the film can break free of the dogma which says that the main character must be a man? Le Quattro Volte encourages a path of liberation look. He pushes the viewer to find the invisible link that leads the entire world. The film begins in a traditional manner, thus focusing on man. Then he moves the viewer's attention on what surrounds the human, and that is normally the scene of the film. Humans are "kidnapped" and relegated in the background, and what was happening back in the foreground, giving way to a happy discovery: the other kingdoms - the plant, animal and mineral - that have the same dignity as humans. For me, cinema is an instrument that can, more than other modes of expression, highlight the link between the reigns. Find this article was an adventure film. " Michelangelo Frammartino

***

poorest region of Italy, located in the extreme south, Calabria is strongly influenced by ancient customs and its main resource agriculture. Through the story of the last days of a shepherd, first steps of a kid in the middle of the herd, and the various activities of the villagers, Michelangelo Frammartino questions about what constitutes the world in the original sense of the word: human, plant, animal, mineral, found thanks to the director of equal dignity. Placing his camera in a village in the mountains of Calabria, the filmmaker delivers a work in calm silence (no dialogue is disturbing images) and the bold approach.

It first follows the last days of an old shepherd surrounded by his flock of goats. Once the old man died, the animals enter the house of the dead and take possession of the film we follow include the first steps of a kid as fragile softened. This part wonderfully masters the art of burlesque, in a surprising mix of humor and solemnity. Finally, the film shows the evolution of a chestnut through the season and describes the transformation of wood smoke and coal dust.

With a slow majestic Michelangelo Frammartino captures the soul of a region that seems out of time and sends the man to his status as a single species inhabiting nature. Filmmaker Italy said it was important that "there is no artifice or technique, or linguistic or metaphorical, or drama." This radicalism is fly in The Quattra Volte, sublime poetic treatise on the cycle of seasons.

Here the stones have the power to change events, the goats grow on trees ... The first episode recounts the last days of the life of an old shepherd, including grazing or trafficking. Superstitions and rituals are still very popular perennial in the region. The second part of the film describes the breeding season, following the first days of life of a child from birth to segregation in the pasture to the fold first, and the third focuses on evolution of a chestnut tree through the seasons. Finally, the fourth and final part of the film focuses on the coal trade, the ancient art of turning wood into charcoal fumes and dust from a meter deep in the woods vibbese.

Make a fiction film without actors, a story without figures, is this possible? Well yes. Michelangelo Frammartino gets there, and with some success. Presented this year at Cannes Director's Fortnight, Le quattro volte is directly in line with his previous film, the already curious It Dono. We find the same universe rural hyper realistic, ubiquitous nature, the total absence of dialogue and as a character: goats, trees, village, smoke ... a few elements that the film succeeds miraculously no one can understand very well how to transform into true fiction. We observed goats frolicking, and suddenly the scene turns to comedy, then becomes quite moving, without being able to find words to explain it. The film tells three times nothing, but the juxtaposition of these elements even eventually create a story both simple and elliptical, which gives free rein to all the interpretations on the cycles of life (as indicated by the seasons of title ). But even without the need to draw metaphors at all costs by the hair, the film manages to stand above all through the rigor of his writing and especially his direction, as evidenced by the impressive Plan sequence where a burlesque central religious procession crosses paths with a sheepdog recalcitrant. Note that the dog has also received a special mention of the highly coveted Palme Dog.

Railway workers talking. We see them at work. Driving a motor. Erase failure - Moment of panic in the driver's eyes. Answering the telephone - nervousness, fiddling with billiard balls dealing with people stupid, "No madam it's not replaceable." Ensure the "hits" for travelers with a train delayed. Repair a motor. Tighten bolts on the rails. Selling tickets at the counter. "The few years that you spend the railways, it'll remain a lifetime."

"less alone". The railway bossent, are "still" (for how long?) Body, help each other, provide what they consider a service, but many feel it will not last long for them. This world eludes them. At a meeting, their leader speaks of adaptation, evolution, competition, global freight and challenged in their work ... One of them grimace, skeptical.

This hinge zone between the world they knew and one they are supposed to take their new benchmarks, Luc Jousse Joule and Sebastian took it for a year and a half. "Grooves stations, shops and offices, to observe and listen," they write. Railroaders gives us to see lives, doubts, emotions among those people who live and work in the PACA region (Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur). This is the story of a family that is fading. The railroad does not regret the past, but the common understanding and the ability to make their work gay. They are not nostalgic. They say how much this feeling of control over what they make their escape. Many are handed the job of one generation to another.

The film multiplies the scenes taken from life. The father speaks of pride he has to see his son drive the TGV, social advancement, while he started lower. A switchman confesses in a whisper, its a relief to hear someone finally answer the phone after several attempts: "Fortunately there qu't'es, Jacky, You make me feel less alone."

They feel that the profession cares camp. "We must at all cost that is cheaper," said one. "Before the work was ours," says another. They are less numerous: "There is so" cut ". I was in traffic, I get turn-bolts. I'm a little bit of work, and I know most the rest. I lose the taste for work. "This other "We do more listening, we do hear me, I feel that I have my place, that no longer wants me."

They spend less time than before to revise the machines, which is problematic for their safety and the safety of passengers. "I do not know if one day I would not stop taking the train," said one speaker, aware that the level of technical requirement decrease. In the game, the opening to private and corporate culture that changes. Invited the film director Ken Loach summarizes the British experience (which he treated in his feature film The Navigators): "Employees have become temporary workers and subcontractors, there were accidents, the service has deteriorated and prices have increased. Privatization has been more costly to the taxpayer. It's stupidity without a name. "

" Instructional ". So what do to stop the movement? Raymond Aubrac, facing him a few unionists who expressed their dismay, says they need a little more "pedagogical" with what they live, they must explain these changes in the population. "If you show that capital owners will use this operation [of privatization, ed] to make a profit, and that the transport situation will deteriorate, it will arouse public interest, "predicts the former resistance, which recommended" optimism "and also not to give up. "In the language of railroad, it does not fall, but suppress," concludes the film. Represses their job, but that voice, at least lets off steam.

Private God

Koji Wakamatsu. Scene. : Hisako Hisako Kurosawa Kurosawa and based on the novel by Edogawa Rampo.

monstrous parade

In his acceptance antique is usually a veteran soldier who has many benefits once warlike missions gloriously fulfilled. But a military cherished by his people is not a good film character. Hollywood has understood, abusing this recurring figure to create a genre largely based on feedback from the disastrous Vietnam War. The Return (Hal Ashby, 1978) and Born on the 4th of July (Oliver Stone, 1990) see as national heroes nailed in their wheelchairs. Rambo (Ted Kotchev, 1982), Taxi Driver (Martin Scorsese, 1976) or even Birdy (Alan Parker, 1985) insist on them psychological damage and behavioral disorders more or less disabling that follow. This script's industrial return has no equivalent in other films. France, often taciturn about its wars, only a few songs, which ultimately very romantic film by François Dupeyron, The House Officers (2001), on the broken faces of the first world war. More recently, Lebanon (Samuel Maoz, 2008) continued this testing that the viewer is subjected almost physically mutilating the pressures of war.

This preamble is contrast as the charge of God's Soldier Wakamatsu is incommensurate with the works which the public has finally comfortably accustomed. If there was a kinship to Lieutenant Kurokawa, a compilation of all the horrors mentioned above, it is indisputably on the side of Johnny Goes to War by Dalton Trumbo (1971) we find it. This young soldier returned from the front of 14-18 lost arms and legs after the explosion of a shells. Deaf and disfigured, discreetly hidden under a white sheet, the man managed to stem exchange with his nurse by using a morbid system walrus body. With Wakamatsu, any veil is lifted, the human residue is visible amputated arms and legs, disfigured by an ugly scar, almost bald. No stigma we are spared. And unlike its American counterpart, it is very mobile or very restless. The war that dismembered Shigeko is the second Sino-Japanese war which was sent home covered with medals, making him No. living mausoleum of heroism National. To address this seeming husband whose first she denies the reality Kuyzo shown courage and selflessness, deputy man in his patriotic mission of devotion to the Emperor and the whole country. That she proudly walks his undead medalist in a cart to which every villager bows respectfully. But this staging enlightening the public arena is an illusion, a monstrous parade including behind the scenes reveals a genuine domestic cruelty.

gentleman is very demanding, his insatiable is total. This freak eats more than it eats, vampirizing savagely time constraint of his wife, despite his revulsion, to ensure her conjugal duties. First taxable Kuyzo will meet all the pressing needs of Shigeko claiming the attention of fact combined with a newborn and a husband. Gradually, the rebellion took shape, the power changes hands and becomes the ruler dominated. No eroticism in this volte-face, just a reversal of a machine, a reversal of values that pounded unrestrained patriarchal model. Before the war, this couple was already sterile. After the war, it is man who creates another being, a monstrous double, an abortion that denies the natural cycle of life as it is now the male that gives birth to the male. This obviously refers rogue engendering in Hiroshima whose impact has run over several generations, monstrosity is expected to last beyond the moment of the explosion. The antics are filmed with the same clinical precision that meal times painful swallowing, because man is reduced to its most organic needs. The body is tense, touch, driven both by the need for survival and social pressure as soon as you cross the doorstep. Inside, the violence is raw, without pretense, abrupt truth. Outside, everything is what hypocrisy, the blare of the single thought in the wind nationalist propaganda to the tetanized hearts villagers. Only the simpleton in the village seems to escape the establishment not spirits, eating flowers as a poetics of refusal established system.

Filmed in twelve days in digital format, Pte God has a great aesthetic boorishness: flashbacks and highlights brutal on meaningful connections, abundant music, archives ups, video overlays in the fashion of the eighties ... Renunciation of good taste has the advantage of surprise and to work in global production may be too smooth, this dissonance film obviously referring to the deformed body Shigeko, his inadequacy in the world and the fragmentation of his vision once of absolute correctness. Wakamatsu wind the film and its codes as Legionnaire breaks portrait of the Emperor's anger speaking character with the same virulence as that of his creator. The Politically Incorrect culminates in small rural walks where Shigeko is exhibited by his wife in a kind of monstrous parade. At this point in the story, the staging seems then settle down, Nimba campaign soft lights. This is a false lull parenthetically that the patriotic caravan appears even more disconnected, more grotesque. Private God also eyeing the fantasy film which is referred to the English title: Cartepillar (caterpillar), sending the man to the status of an animal under construction a chrysalis that never will change.

This approach somewhat consensual world and cinema, Koji Wakamatsu's claims since the beginning of his career in 1959. A prolific writer, he has long mingled eroticism and violence in touring productions often in haste. It owes its fame to the recent European edition of The Embryo Hunts in Secret (1962) and his latest film United Red Army (2008), portrait of a group of Japanese terrorists seventies. If we add to that his experience as a producer of The Empire Sense of Nagisa Oshima, we get a fairly complete picture of the dissident who makes movies the military arm of his political thought. Should be provided not simplify the man and his work. The wife Shigeko is not the nasty nurse bedridden writer of Misery Rob Reiner. The art of domination as described by Wakamatsu is much more subtle as eminently reversible. The couplings of the beautiful and the beast within both the political and intimate, giving the shimmer brown flesh of a morbid fall.

Vincent Thabourey

That really means war? Can we give meaning to people of constituents for the good people of their country? Where can you find good a just war?

Do not forget the stench of blood covered the earth!
Remember the smell of burning flesh!
We must not forget ... because that's what war is.

Over 140,000 people have died following the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima.
More than 70,000 people have died following the dropping of the atomic bomb on Nagasaki.
984 war criminals, Class B * and C **, were sentenced to death.
Over 100,000 have died in the bombing of Tokyo.
Over 20 million died on the Asian continent.
Over 60 million died during the Second World War. Koji Wakamatsu

A film by Ola Simonsson and Johannes Nilsson Stjärne

Sound of Noise is a concept a little crazy already canned the time of a short film by the two troublemakers with their players / percussionists great. This short soberly called Music for One Apartment and Six Drummers and foreshadowed what amounts to a pure experimental film skillfully blends police investigation about anarchist and of course music. An explosive cocktail that works wonderfully on 10 minutes, and who is spreading to the movies for nearly an hour and forty. Needless to say that exercise is dangerous, a concept as it is original thought for a short film is not necessarily adaptable to long format. And surprise, it works! While the film is not perfect, it reached a point limitations related to the basic idea, but it emerges from this company a sort of madness extremely communicative can only give a smile to a public simply never seen it on a movie screen. After all it is not every day that crosses the "musical terrorists" on the big screen, and to be quite frank, it's been a very crazy to see the real cinema as inventive and free.

Music for one apartment and six drummers:

Built like a symphony in four movements, Sound of Noise succeeds handily passing through long-format precisely this narrative structure. You could almost take each of these acts independently and we get four short films ultra efficient, which placed side by side are a set of absolute consistency. The first attack was by far the best, so much so that the following seem almost bland despite the madness that anime. Thus we are left with the 6 percussionists invited and freshly gathered around a sound operation of large-scale terrorism, all around an operating table with a patient on it. This is the first real demonstration of this principle to create amazing music from the sounds of everyday life, and it is simply stunning.

It takes a monstrous enough to walk the show soft-crazy. In parallel to this revolution through music, to give countenance to the story, we follow a police investigation after all basic conducted by an inspector phlegmatic named Amadeus, from a musical family, so he is just allergic to music. Her character suffers from a strange deafness (nice fantasy foray into the movie) connects the different chapters. As each player has a mini biography and funny, kind of dry humor that makes fly every time as it is well led. But unfortunately the outcome has darkened the picture. While some scenes are just magical (the lights of the city) it stretches too much and loses intensity that was the strength of all that went before.

level of achievement is the absolute class. Yet this is the first film but the care with which the image of bluffing, as often with the productions of the countries of northern Europe. Brilliant photography, staging dynamic executive with some bold choices, it's a feast for the retina. But of course this is something quite rare in cinema that happens is to say that the sound that predominates very largely on the image. Musical film par excellence (but not musical, shade) Sound of Noise has a daunting task on Sound Editing (with long stretches of silence justified) that these sublime compositions downright delusional but melodic intonation that can never be questioned. If the film's title refer to malicious noise, it speaks well of music there. And there will, at the turn of a memorable scene, the destruction of the rule of a fine musical Philharmonic at the brutal sound of shovels site. Pleasurable wish!
